Ok, so apparently I'm a delicate flower because every single amazing-smelling deodorant has been giving me a rash so of course I asked Eric to experiment with ingredients to find a deodorant recipe that doesn't! Stir in butter a tablespoon at a time; stir in the beaten eggs, working quickly so eggs will not cook before thoroughly blended into the grits, then stir in the shredded cheese, garlic and a little cayenne pepper. Some gel formulas can become sticky and messy when they get wet, making the dry formula of a stick more appealing. I saw a body powder recipe by Angi Schneider of Schneiderpeeps, and the image of my mother's deodorant powder cake with its pink powder puff flashed into my mind. If you live in a particularly warm climate, add a little melted candelilla wax or beeswax to the mixture.

Consider what it is you're looking for in an antiperspirant before choosing between a stick and spray formula. Whenever I make this shampoo I add in a touch of pure olive oil to make her coat super shiny and soft, works like a charm! I knew a natural, effective deodorant must exist, and making my own was definitely out of the question at the moment. By the end of my cardio, I would stick to the high heavens if I had forgotten to apply fresh deodorant beforehand.

In a small (heat-resistant) mason jar, add your coconut oil, shea butter, and beeswax; and set the jar in a shallow pan of simmering water (turned off). Traboulsee says the original recipe was simple: some coconut oil, baking soda and essential oils. You can reduce the baking soda and substitute cornstarch altogether with arrowroot.

If I could afford virgin cold-pressed coconut oil I would not need to make my own deodorant; I could buy the natural stuff. I thought about the number of times Londyn nursed a day (too many to count…she was quite the milk drinker) and the deodorant that was applied close to my breasts, and therefore, my nursing babe. You can also spray the insides of your shoes with this to prevent bad smells from building up.

Mary, Tropical Traditions carries a wonderful GOLD-Virgin UNrefined coconut oil and I highly recommend it. They do carry the lower grade refined as well but they are known for the Gold-Virgin Oil which is top of the line. To those of you with a rash start using more raw, organic apple cider vinegar in the shower and before applying deodorant 🂠it helps! I love coconut oil for skin care, and am planning to use a mix similar to this for toothpaste (coconut oil, baking soda and flavoring). If you wait it out a few weeks, it may disappear altogether, as it happened with me. If not, try decreasing the baking soda by 1 Tbsp and replacing with more cornstarch/arrowroot powder. But I will look and see if aluminum is in the baking soda and will get another brand if I can find one without aluminum. Coconut oil has a 76-degree Fahrenheit melting point, which means it turns to liquid in the summer.

Thank you very much for this recipe I made 2 batches and I have used my deodorant and Yes it does work.I have a very hard 9 to 5 the end of 8 hours I was still only thing im going to try adding coco butter to keep it solid so that it doesnt melt. Coconut oil is an all natural oil that has wonderful anti-bacterial and immune boosting qualities. I do shave my armpits regularly, and did not have any problems with shaving irritation using this deodorant. To use the deodorant simply swipe it on all areas where your hair grows to ensure the best odor-protection. This recipe is for more sensitive skin with the addition of shea butter and more vitamin E oil.

Hi, I've been making my own soaps for years and found your deodorant recipe the other day. A lot of people online suggest using essential oils to scent their homemade deodorant. To it, add 1 tsp glycerin and add a few drops of lavender or your favorite essential oil.

I either travel with the deo in a cooler, upright and in a plastic bag in a side pocket of my luggage, OR I just use my MadeOn lotion bar and a bit of baking soda patted on manually. I followed the deodorant recepie but I instead of 3 tablespoons of baking soda I used 1 and 2 zinc oxide non-nano. I used a similar recipe but added a bit of beeswax and poured the liquid mixture into an empty deoderant tube.

I've been using deodorant like this for a while now — with the coconut oil and everything. Well, I admit that I am a bit embarrassed how to make deodorant talk about it, but the truth is I don't recall ever really needing deodorant until the past few years. If you don't have a deodorant canister already, you can find them here or just put your deodorant in a small container and spread it on with your fingers (a bit messy, but it works). It's baking powder that has aluminum in it, in which case you need to buy aluminum-free.
